Our Process

Our capabilities span print, web and multimedia design. We’ve handled everything from multi-platform branding campaigns to simple print brochures, brand guidelines, animation and complex financial software.

What is a process?

A well defined process does assist in all aspects of a project. Following these steps we can gather all of the information that is required to identify the problem, and plan solutions. At Counterspace we follow a process, like all design companies and agencies, but we follow it. We don’t let it lead us.

The Process Myth

Design companies and ad agencies will have you believe that you put your problem in one end of their “process” machine, and at the end of it you get a design solution that is perfect.

It is after all, a process that has been refined over years of experience

The truth is that design is something that isn’t tangeable. Not quantifiable. It is an art form. An art form that has had quasi science applied to it, in an attempt to easily package it for sale.

The right solution

Depending upon a number of parameters the solution for any given problem will need to be different. And over time the same set of parameters will create a different solution. It is recognizing the right solution for the right set of parameters for the right target audience at the right time.

Under the guidance of our founder, Brett Collins—an internationally recognized designer and typographer—and a network of experts in branding, marketing, development, copywriting and other disciplines, we deliver a full suite of creative services.

We’ve worked in industries as diverse as fashion, finance, entertainment, education, philanthropy and publishing. We’ve designed an interactive money management system for Merrill Lynch. Created a wide-ranging children’s website for the HarperCollins Children’s division. Helped an eco-friendly California start-up launch its brand and its website.
